The food was delicious. They are take out only on Sunday. We didn't mind. I had the Sunday special chicken and cornbread dressing with gravy. Very good! My husband had the fried fish sandwich and he enjoyed it as well.

Herman's is back. Past dinners were disappointing but this time the food was delicious. This is the Herman's I remember. The only negative the cornbread was very dry.

Service was great. They treated me and my group great and showed us a great deal of hospitality. The food was on point! Except for the yams.. they weren't the best. But the Peach cobbler was the best cobbler I ever had. I finished my wife's German chocolate cake a day or 2 later and it was still moist and perfect. If we are in town again looking to eat some SOUL FOOD we will be back here. And it was a great price for what we got.

The food was good. My only issue was all of the sides were seasoned with pork. As a community, we are choosing healthier options. The service was pretty good and the environment was a normal soul food spot.

This was the first eating spot we stopped at when we got to Chattanooga. Dining inside wasn't available which was a bummer so we had to take to go. The service was excellent though. I got the whitening platter which came with two sides and cornbread , I added a drink . I chose Mac n cheese and yams as my side. My two pieces of fish were good beware there is bones inside , the yams was good as well .The mac n cheese could've been better though. For the price and portions you can't beat this place either if you like or love soul food .

I wish I could give this review 4.5. This place is pretty awesome! We ordered New Years Day because I was not feeling like cooking anymore. The dining room is closed and plastic is covering the entrance. The masks signs were everywhere. It was a little too much in the mask warning department --especially when the majority of the patrons didn't wear their masks over their noses. I'd rather not wear a mask period, but i dared not wear one given the over the top mask signage. BUT...on to the food. I wasn't sure what to order, the sides all sounded AMAZING. I was there for the Ham hocks, turnip greens and Black Eyed peas, but I got the kiddo's chicken fingers and I got another veggie platter so I could try their other options. In the end we also got to try their pinto beans, fried Okra and fried green tomatoes in addition to the greens. The food was ON POINT. ON POINT. My husband and I were over full because we couldn't stop eating this stuff. We got it to go (obviously). I didn't know the thing to do was call ahead, so we will do that next time. I ordered and it took about 30 minutes on a Friday night about 6 pm. Not too bad. Seriously, besides being a little scared to walk in because the mask police may drop down from the ceiling and apprehend you, this food and this place is amazing. I knew it would be good with the line of people coming and going but man, you have got to try it. I wouldn't recommend eating it every day, your heart would clog up like an old toilet in a house full of girls but dude, every once in a while? That place is LEGIT.

I'm in town for work and decided to scout around for some soul food in the city. Using Yelp! (of course) I found that Hermans was 15 minute from my hotel. Upon arriving I was greeted and the restaurant was buzzing with patrons sitting down, as well as, those at the counter getting to go orders. I liked that the menu was very clear on their website because I was prepared to make my to go order. I had decided to get the chicken and waffle plate with a side of mac and cheese. The food was really tasty. The chicken was hot and well seasoned. The waffle had a thicker texture than I care for so I didn't eat it. The mac and cheese was hot and well made. Overall, very good food for the price. I would definitely visit again.
